| My Son Sanctuary |
My Son is a complex of more than 70 towers in various architecture styles, symbolizing each historical period of Champa kingdom. Most of the constructions and sculptures here are influenced by Hinduism. Temple-towers face East, the place where Sun rises, the home of gods. Some other towers face West, or both East and West, representing the world-after-death of kings, to show their respect to ancestors.

My Son - the mysterious place |
Because of the destruction of natural disasters and wars, only about 20 towers remained in My Son. However, these alone make tourists astounded and admire the architectural, sculptural and decorating arts of ancient Cham people. Until now, the technique of constructing without mortar remains mysterious for not only scientists but also many other tourists in the world.
Compared to Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Pagan (Myanmar), Borobudua (Indonesia) etc, My Son is not as big, but still plays an important role in the historical cultures of South East Asia. On December 1999, My Son holy land, together with Hoi An ancient town was considered World Heritage by UNESCO and since then thousands of tourists have come to visit this place every year.
