| Hue Citadel | No visitor to Vietnam will want to miss seeing this World Heritage place, Hue. Great efforts are being made to restore this treasured site to its original glory. It was designed and planned round the natural elements in the area north of the Perfume River. Two islets in the Perfume river, Ta Thanh Long (Left Green Dragon) and Huu Bach Ho (Right White Tiger ) are considered the sentinels for the Citadel, which was built from 1805 to 1832. The massive square enclosure of 10,000 square meters in circumference and 6.6 meters of height has walls made of brick. Two story watch towers stand over each of the ten gates. The Citadel was built to hold 24 bastions and 400 canons. Standing within this national treasure, a visitor feels immersed in the glory of Vietnamese history.
